We are currently looking for a Head of Performance. This is a varied role which will require wearing a number of hats at a senior level, with a focus on oversight and facilitation of good business outcomes across technology. 

The purpose of the role is to ensure that all parts of Tech are working together to deliver excellence for the business, by facilitating cross departmental collaboration and analysing and reporting on key measures, such as financials, utilisation, benefit delivery and team morale.  This role will be responsible for ensuring that the department is performing as per expectation but also that Practices are driving continuous improvement internally and across the whole department.



Organise and facilitate key forums, such as New Demand Forum ; RI Tech Steering Group
With support from team, create and collate inputs for departmental forums / governance meetings
With support from own team and Portfolio Analysts, create inputs for governance meetings, including but not exclusively:
Financial dashboards and forecasts for overall spend
Full department capacity plan
Recruitment status
Operational KPIs
Delivery data : major project delivery dates ; value delivered by team ; ROI
Key risks and issues for management attention
Staff surveys and insight


Organise and facilitate Practice improvement and collaboration:
Oversee community of practice and practice maturity
Organise regular cross-practice improvement reviews
Record, measure and monitor departmental improvements and outcomes via a Lean Value Tree with mission, objectives and outcomes owned across the team
Own the overall departmental operating model. Ensure that it is documented accurately and effectively understood across the team
Actively contribute to and support operating model improvement


Own central knowledge sources, tools and data, such as:
The departmental Hub
Departmental team lists
Product team lists


With support from team, own and manage vendor processes and data
On board and manage integration of all new third parties
Own the on boarding process for all people and third parties into RI Tech, collaborating with HR, recruitment partner and third parties


Own relationships between Tech and HR; Procurement; Legal; Finance


Manage a pool of comms and events associates who will:
Own the RI Tech wide team communications, both internally and externally
Provide communications support to projects when needed
Co-ordinate and oversee the Tech events schedule


Team under management:
Senior Analyst - Finance & Capacity
Analyst – Vendor Management & KPI reporting 
Junior Analyst – General support 
2 Comms and events co-ordinators 


Dotted line report from
Portfolio Analyst – Customer & Digital 
Portfolio Analyst – Product & Distribution


This role will be measured on:
- the extent and effectiveness of cross departmental collaboration
- the timeliness and accuracy of management information
- the visibility of issues, risks and blockers to great performance and the drive to resolve them
- effective management of resource in the team and quality control of their deliverables
- effective management and sharing of key artefacts across the team

Experience at working at a senior level in a tech environment – within a tech team or as a consultant
Good experience / knowledge of different IT operating models, principles and methods (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, DevOps)
Experience of managing IT budgets and capacity either at programme or department level
Has managed a team, either in a permanent, consulting or contract capacity
Has experience of third party management – direct or indirect
Has experience of providing leadership level information – dashboards, reports, powerpoint communication decks


Has worked in a scrum/agile/product environment
Has a passion for consumer / retail
Has worked in a business focused role within tech or consulting
Good grasp of comms and change management principles
