We are looking for an energetic, positive and proactive IT Training Manager join us at River Island. This role would be perfect for a Training Manager who is looking to shape the role and deliver value in a fast-paced retail environment.



  • Planning and delivering training to business users as part of new IT projects and applications (working alongside Product Owners, Business Analysts and Change Managers)
  • Undertaking a ‘training needs analysis’ to determine what the training requirements are across the business, prioritise the work needed and create a plan for delivery
  • Support the delivery of training for IT systems and applications for ‘business as usual’ (i.e. when it is not linked to a project or Product Team) in the most effective and valuable way
  • Working closely with our Learning & Development department, who provide an e-learning platform to host IT training materials and deliver personal development courses

We are looking for someone that:

  • Has experience developing and delivering IT Training – particularly in an agile or fast-paced environment
  • Builds strong relationships and trust quickly
  • Can turn technical or complex details into simple, easy to understand training packages and materials, tailored for different audiences (we need short and simple solutions)
  • Creates training strategies and plans that are adaptable and meet the needs of the business
  • Can deliver results in an ambiguous and challenging environment; and is flexible in their approach (even if things change at the last minute)
  • Feels comfortable challenging the status quo respectfully and can provide advice on how to improve adoption with the help of effective training
  • Is pragmatic and prioritises value adding work it
  • Can dive into and understand the detail, but also consider the bigger picture
  • Is a self-starter who can work independently, as well as with others
  • Proactive and structured in how they approach their work
  • Uses their common sense to solve problems and works with others to find the best solution

It would be great if you have:

  • Experience developing and delivering training for retail systems
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • An understanding and recommendations for various tools that could be used to deliver training
