We are looking for a Delivery Manager for our Buying & Merchandising / Supplychain Portfolio. Here you will be managing a number of projects including one high profile piece of work. This is a great opportunity to be part of the Delivery Manager community in a fast-paced retail environment, we will be looking for you to help shape the business and help achieve buy in from stakeholders to make things happen. 

 

WHAT YOU DO MATTERS…

  • Manage delivery of projects/ongoing product development within agreed parameters of cost, timescale and quality
  • Ensure projects and products have a defined delivery approach which aligns all their workstreams (e.g. multiple development teams, infrastructure, service design, change management) to meet the business priorities, target milestones and deliver the intended benefits
  • Monitor and report on resources, revenue and capital costs against the project budget, managing expectations of all project stakeholders
  • Build key relationships within the respective business portfolio and the RI Tech engineering teams, managing communication with sponsors and stakeholders
  • Help the team spot risks and ensures issues are understood and action taken to resolve them
  • Ensure everybody in project team is aligned and budgeted for
  • Support the Portfolio Lead in leading the delivery team, working with the Scrum Master and Business Analyst/Scrum Product Owner to align delivery priorities
  • Assist with change and communications, handover to support, training, and programme interdependencies
  • Manage any 3rd parties to time, budget and quality
  • Manage the selection and contracting process across IT, business, procurement and legal teams

Strategy & Planning

  • Help to support the shaping of business ideas into deliverable initiatives
  • Define the project scope, priorities and objectives by identify preliminary business needs, budget considerations, and time and resource estimates
  • Work with the Portfolio Lead, Head of Engineering, Engineering Managers, Change Managers and Operations team to confirm project team resources required for delivery of a project
  • Create and maintain the project plan for delivery of the end to end project with clearly identified milestones, covering all stages of the RI Tech Operating model

Project Delivery Management

  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of a project to meet the agreed business requirements within timescale, cost and quality constraints, and in accordance with the agreed methods and standards defined within the RI Tech Operating model
  • Monitor, manage and report on resources, revenue and capital costs against the project budget and manage expectations of all project stakeholders
  • Provide direction and structure to assigned projects activities, establishing clear, precise goals, objectives and timeframes
  • Ensure that realistic project plans are maintained and the project objectives are achieved within agreed time, budget and quality constraints
  • Ensure that plans and reporting are aligned to scrum burn down charts
  • Identify, track and manage project issues and risks ensuring mitigating actions are carried out and/or escalation takes place to the relevant stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Ensure key deliverable documents are completed as required by the project with the corresponding sign off as defined by the RI Tech Operating model
  • Prepare for key review meetings to avoid unnecessary project delays
  • Ensure service and operations roles are involved in the project as needed (particularly during the discovery phase), to ensure activities required for a smooth transition into service takes place
  • Build and maintain relationships with allocated Scrum Masters and Engineering Teams, and work with them to track progress against the plan
  • Work closely with RI Tech PMO to ensure all governance processes area adhered to and are both timely and accurate
  • Initiate post implementation reviews to ensure that lessons are learnt from each project implementation  

Third Party Management

  • Work with the Portfolio Lead and Head of Delivery & Transformation to define, agree and implement any 3rd party resourcing approaches
  • Manage any 3rd parties to time, budget and quality, influencing and negotiating as necessary to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Provide input into and review of all necessary work orders and contracts for third parties involved in the project delivery
  • Work closely with the RI Procurement team to ensure all 3rd party engagement is aligned to agreed RI policies and procedures

Communication & Business Relationships

  • Ensure regular and accurate project updates and reports are communicated to all project stakeholders and that the communication is appropriately targeted for its respective audience
  • Work closely with the Portfolio Lead to effectively and appropriately manage key relationships and the stakeholder community
  • Partner with RI Tech Change Management Team to ensure that all projects and project activities are delivered effectively to the business and return the value expected
  • Work closely with Business Product Owners and Business Analyst/Scrum Product Owners to ensure all projects have the required delivery assets and user story backlog at the appropriate stages of the delivery lifecycle
  • Work with the Business Analysts/Scrum Product Owners and Business Architects to ensure that new business processes are accurately mapped and documented and the implications of these are clearly understood by stakeholders
  • Work closely with the Scrum Master to ensure the effective utilisation of the engineering teams

Agile and scrum

  • Work alongside Scrum Master to schedule and plan releases
  • Manage and coordinate dependencies across multiple scrum teams
